DIY Holiday Gifts The Food Proof Girls Put Together
Michelle and I took a stab at some of the DIY projects we discussed on our podcast. If you haven’t listened to our episode yet, you can check it out through the link below:
We decided to start off with our Eco-Chic Gal DIY picks. The first DIY project we recreated was the sugar hand scrub. You can find the recipe by clicking on this link: Peppermint Candy Cane Sugar Scrub. We used the following ingredients:
And this was our final product:
This sugar hand scrub smelled so good! I just wanted to eat it while we were making it! The smell reminded me of the yummy peppermint mints some restaurants give out for free.
The second DIY project we put together was a moisturizer made out of coconut oil infused with green tea. You can find the recipe here: Coconut Oil and Green Tea Moisturizer
We used the following ingredients:
The instructions in the recipe state to whip the coconut oil once it’s cooled down a bit, but I didn’t really have to do that. I don’t own a mixer so I just used a fork and stirred the mixture around once it had cooled down into a solid consistency. I did get worried at one point though because it took quite a while for the oil to cool down and become solid. Maybe it was too warm in my apartment! But here’s the final product:
Next we put together the Essential Oils Roll-on Perfumes. We got the basis for the perfumes from this website: Little Monster: Essential Oil Aromatherapy Roll-On. Michelle decided to mix lavender and sweet orange essential oils while I mixed lavender and lemon grass.
We put everything into roll-on bottles that I was able to purchase from Whole Foods.
Next we moved on to make gifts from our Guy Next Door DIY picks. We started off with the shave butter. We got the recipe from this website: Teach Beside Me – Easy Homemade Shave Butter. We used the following ingredients:
And this is what the final product looked like:
I did have to refrigerate this to get it to solidify. I love the smell of cedar wood so we ended up putting more of that essential oil in. It ended up smelling soooo good, mmmmm!
The last Guy Next Door DIY project we made was the cologne. The recipe can be found here: Mom Off Track – Manly Man Cologne. We used these ingredients:
And mixed everything into a blue glass spray bottle I also was able to purchase from Whole Foods.
We saved the best DIY project for last! The lentil soup mix for The Foodie in your life! As a foodie myself, just making this gift got me all excited and hungry! You can find the recipe here: Glue and Glitter – Lentil Soup Mix. This is one D.I.Y. gift that I might just end up gifting for myself. Yum!
